biography

I am a passionate and energetic film maker. My independent films tackle tough subjects and demand taxing and in depth performances. But I am as at home directing action sequences as emotional breakdown, whether it be on a TV location, commercial shoot or cinema film set.

I wrote and directed my first self-financed short film ‘Joint Venture’ in 1997 which launched my directing career. ‘Joint Venture’ was shot on 35mm and played many festivals around the world. It won several awards and was sold to the TV Channels Canal+ France and Canal+ Spain. ‘Joint Venture’ also played as the supporting short to the feature films ‘Downtime’ and ‘Heart’ at their premieres in the UK.

Short Film Dead DrunkSince then I have directed many hours of prime time TV, with audiences for some episodes reaching 8 million. I have also directed several other short films, examples of which can be seen on my clips page. My short film ‘Dead Drunk’ (which I co-wrote) was broadcast by the BBC and won an RTS Award. ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ was funded by the UK Film Council and played several international festivals. The most recent short I wrote and directed 'A Wake' was produced on an ultra low budget by The Actor’s Centre, London and premiered at Curzon Soho in April 2008. I most recently wrote, produced and directed a fully interactive web promo for Capsule Films starring Zoe Lucker. I also directed an 8 episode Halloween Special of the Irish soap 'Fair City'.

Most recently I have been following my passion for the web and crossplatform narrative through writing and developing interactive projects for internet distribution and mobile phone delivery. These projects are being developed alongside feature films for cinema through my production company Insomnia Films Ltd. I also continue to direct for TV.
